NICOLE HENRY TO HEADLINE JAZZ AT MOCA, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30

The Museum of Contemporary Art welcomes vocalist Nicole Henry to Jazz at MOCA on Friday, October 30, 2009. The outdoor concert begins at 8 pm at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 770 NE 125th Street, in North Miami and is held rain or shine.

Nicole Henry’s beautiful and unforgettable voice combines jazz and pop with soulful nuances and a spirited zest for life. She performs selections from the Great American Songbook as well as inspirational and love songs with a fresh and distinctive delivery that lends luster and meaning to each piece. Her impressive list of international jazz performances and awards includes the Prix du Jury 2007 award from Revelations vocal jazz competition in France and Best New Jazz Artist 2004 from HMV Japan. She has appeared at The Rainbow Room, Cotton Club and Lincoln Center in New York City and has released three critically acclaimed jazz albums The Nearness of You, Teach Me Tonight and The Very Thought of You.

MOCA Galleries will be open by donation from 7 to 10 pm that evening. Currently on view is Pivot Points 3 an exhibition of works from MOCA’s permanent collection which mark important moments in the careers of the featured artists and turning points in contemporary art.
